Am going to put King Superlows on the SS and am getting conflicting stories on whether I need a camber kit. Have been told that VZ (maybe VY or VY2 as well) have enough adjustment in them to cope without a camber kit but other people have said to put one in. Therefore am using my ‘ask the audience’ lifeline to ask those of you out there who have lowered your LATE model Commodore what you think. For those who may have done it without a camber kit, how is tyre wear? Also, what about shortened shocks on the front as the King’s catalogue suggests? (Apparently rears are fine as no note about that for them, so no spring entrapment issues or anything.) Thanks, Gary. VX Comm IRS Camber/Toe kit installation. So Id like to put in a camber /toe kit. The car is a 2000 model VX commodore with the factory FE2 suspension. VE COMMODORE REAR CAMBER CORRECTION KIT NOW AVAILABLE from WHITELINE is a rear lower control arm camber correction kit for VE Commodore (incl. Ute & HSV) & WM Statesman. Thanks, GaryMate, id get a camber kit regardless, IRS cars are reknowned for chewing the inside of tyres and only a camber kit will fix this. They are only a couple of hundred dollars fitted so its money well spent. Both my VU SS, and the old man's VZ have scrubbed out the tyres (NOOOO, not the Nankangs! ) without a camber kit fitted (both have Low Kings in the rear). Dad was advised by one of the workshops in town to use the genuine holden kit (which he did). I don't know if they are quite as adjustable as some of the aftermarket one's, but the recommendation was based on the idea that it would still be adjustable enough, but are also a better quality product. Perhaps others on here will say different? Unfortunately, he doesn't drive the damn thing enough to work out tyre wear since having the camber kit fitted! I do know however, that he reckons there may be a mild improvement in launch traction. Not sure about cornering - he hasn't mentioned anything negative in that regard though. I can't remember exactly but I think the original bushes are 1 piece. The press at work sucked so I used a few bits so I could replace bushes while bit's were still on the car without having to undo balljoints and brakes etc. A threaded rod + 3 nuts, a piece of tube the the bush can fit inside of, a washer a bit bigger than the nut but smaller than the bush, and a big-ass washer bigger than the tube. 14.21K 2 downloads You might find it's easier to leave the small washer off and let the nut 'get jambed' in there, keep turning the 2 locked-together nuts until the bush falls out. Alot of the aftermarket camber bushes are 2 piece with a tube so they're easier to move/twist to where you want them. -Could explain the price difference? Some might be 1 piece? I'm pretty sure if you undo the 2 big bolts in the bushes the arm should hang down. With a spanner and a socket it should be a pain in the ass (like anything you try to do while under a car) but pretty straight foreward. Do you have the 2 thin links going from the centre of the cradle out to the end of the arms? How To Install Camber Kit(Forget what they're called- tie or track rods/links?). Ok i have done a bazzillion of these and fixed many failed ones and re-aligned them from other mechanical workshops. Camber Kit Nissan AltimaFor a start dont touch anything other than a Super pro kit, they are fairly easy to fit straight forward to adjust and the quality of the poly is good also, compared to the Nolathane ones which have had crumbling issues in the past (though i have been assured that this wont happen any more) are a pain in the arse to adjust and not quite as easy to fit. First drop the exhaust, then simply drop the lower shocky mount, the toe rods should get undone at the inner end and the bolt removed. How To Install Rear Camber Kit Vt CommodoreIf the springs arent very low then the 4 bolts holding the rear diff mount to chassis can be loosened to aid in removing the springs (just watch the abs lines), then loosen the 4 bolts holding the lower arms in and remove the 2 inner ones. The 2 outer ones cannot be remmoved without dropping the rear subframe so I simply push them out as far as i can the cut the bolt with an oxy or air hacksaw to facilitate its removal.
